BHAVISHA PATEL

Bhavisha (she/her) is a woman warrior, daughter, sister, wife, and foremost a mother. She is passionate about collaborating on strategies that cultivate diverse, equitable and inclusive communities that lead to dynamic social change. That’s why Bhavisha is excited to have DAWN on her journey – she’s ready to discover and fuel those very changes that support South Asian women and nonbinary people in America.

Idaho has been Bhavisha’s home since 2010, though she was born in London, England, and has spent most of her life in the Southeast U.S. With a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Florida State University, Bhavisha launched her software consulting career in Atlanta, Georgia, which opened up opportunities to travel every week. After getting married, she and her partner were blessed with two beautiful children.

Along with being a mom, Bhavisha found opportunities to be of service to her community and advocate for DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion). Bhavisha has been part of several different organizations such as Women’s Networking Group of Idaho Board Member, Bellon Visiting Author Series Committee, Idaho State University (ISU) Diversity Resource Center Brown Bag series speaker, ISU P.E.A.C.E, ISU Continuing Education and Workforce Training Lunch and Learn, International Community Potluck co-host, Lead Volunteer for Idaho Governor’s Campaign, Mayor’s Million Minute Marathon Committee, Mayor’s Anti Racism Committee,  Human Relations Advisory Committee Vice President, Idaho Education Association Community Coalition, Idaho Education Association Pocatello DEI Subcommittee Lead, and NAACP. Along with work and family, she also enjoys expressing her creativity and trying new things like becoming a Private Wine Buyer, curating an Omakase experience, and assisting with interior-design projects.
